Hope someone might help me on this, and I recognize it is a bit OT, but perhaps as it is New Year's Day, I can get a bit of wiggle room.

My Aunt recently inherited several hundred shares of LSI. I understand that their form of enterprise should have "done better" in the past year's environment that they did. Now, the stock has gone from $3.5 to $12.50 before settling in now at $8.50, so that is nothing to sneeze at. But I remember when this was a 30 dollar stock. Can anyone add perspective on why they did not, or anything I might send my aunt about the prospects of the firm, vis a vis a buy, hold or sell decision she might want to make? Is $12 likely fair value or can they grow the business in the next couple of years. The LSI thread is full of option traders, which I respect, but this does not go to the fundamentals and likely market position of the company two or three years out.
