it's probably more likely people will die of bee stings.

If nothing were done about mad cow disease, and rendered carcases were still in the food supply, then mad cow disease would expand, and such things usually expand exponentially. It's not really a valid comparison to something like dog bites or bee stings which are already at a plateau of occurrance. It's not something you have to get hysterical about, so long as you don't dismiss it as irrelevant.
