The real issue is not revenge. We all heard about the "Clash of Civilizations" theories - well, this is what we may be witnessing, in its early stages. The difficulty is that things are not that simple, like on a certain date the "clash" has begun, etc. It's more complicated. Simultaneously with the slowly developing potential for tension and conflict between civilizations, there are no less important conflicts INSIDE those civilizations. The intent of Islamic extremists is, indeed, to unite the Muslim world against the "infidel" West. To the extent to which they will succeed, we will be nearing a full-fledged conflict between civilizations. Our task - in which we have the majority of moderate Muslims as our natural allies - is to help prevent this from happening.

How many thousands of innocent non-combatants have we killed?

How many hundreds of thousands will NOT die at the hands of the Baathists??
