Don't hate me for suggesting a brand new AMD 64 3000 processor instead of your--
Intel Pentium 4/ 2.6C GHz 800MHz FSB, 512K Cache, Hyper Threading Technology - Retail
Specification
Model: Intel Pentium 4 2.6C w/ Hyper Threading
Core: Northwood
Operating Frequency: 2.6GHz
FSB: 800MHz
Cache: L1/12K+8K; L2/512K
Voltage: 1.525V
Process: 0.13Micron
Socket: Socket 478
Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2
Warranty: 3-year MFG

An AMD64 3000 runs as well, maybe better than a P4 3.2 32bit processor and costs less,
and will let you play with 64 bit programs. AMD64 3000 is a great new chip and has been named chip of the year by some writers.

I will be ordering an AMD 64 3000 processor or two soon.

Please note, i am a big fan of AMD and am biased.
If anyone feels i am spamming, sorry.

The fastest chip I've ever owned! This thing is awesome! I overclocked it to 2.25 ghz and it blows away my 3.2 Pentium 4 system! The motherboard I used is a leadtek K8N (stable wonderful board with kingston ram)A must get for the price!

N/A,12/28/2003 5:26:38 AM

I bought the 64 3000+ with the Leadtek K8N and 1 gig of kingston pc 3200. Such an amazing amount of speed and very stable. Go for the 64 3000+, its worth it!

Another good NewEgg experience! Also, I'm using a GA-K8VNXP, and it's generally good, but it won't run my Kingston HyperX PC3200 at the advertised timings, which is a bit of a disappointment. The chip is good, and runs pretty cool (30-37C).

nothing compares to this for the price totlly awesome overall, raised my 3dmark2001 score 5000 POINTS, just by upgrading from a p4 2.66, same ram same hard drive same video card. WONT REGRET THE BUY!!!! Im using it with a k8v deluxe, but the mobo had a couple issues so i had to rma it. Hopefuly ill get a good one, but i was able to run the test before i noticed the issues.

I am about to purchase my system very soon, i have been doing extensive research about my parts...i decided on this cpu, and have narrowed down to two mobo's. the Asus K8V Deluxe, and the MSI K8T NEO. I will probably be going with the Asus. Anyways, those are two very good boards that compliment this cpu.

I'm using the Gigabyte K8N Pro motherboard and it's working great.
bob,12/22/2003 10:40:04 PM

Scoot,12/21/2003 5:34:01 PM

Because it's new, people wonder which is the better mother board to get with this CPU. Please post which MB you have and where if any info on reviews on it.
Thanks!!!

Just received my boxed AMD Athlon64 3000+. And it is indeed the 2.0Ghz chip with 512 L2 cache version. Great going as usual Newegg. Once I get this baby up and running I'll post a review.
RIZAX,12/18/2003 2:39:49 PM

This is what you ought to have, getting one of these babies for christmas, and its going to smoke, benchs about the same as its 400 dollar counterpart with at most a 2-4% difference in any given test, but most of the time there identical. (BTW newegg posted this baby at 1.8 ghz, nope its 2.0ghz with a 512 cache, and thats official).
