which brings me to an interesting and important postscript

Interesting "jump" you had, as Patterico would say. What followed was this:

<<Locking the Barn Door After the Cow is Dead

Today’s Wall Street Journal reports that a month ago the White House and the dairy lobbyists got together and killed a bill already passed by both the House and Senate that would have barred downed cattle from the food chain. The reason given by the administration was that it would cost the farmers too much money.

Yesterday, after mad cow disease had been discovered in a downed cow, Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman barred downed cattle from the food chain. Veneman said the ban would have little impact on the cost of meat. Numbers don’t lie but liars do the numbers.>>

Should I infer bias? <gggg>
