I am not sure how I feel about the electoral college today. The original purpose of it wasnt because of small states, it was because our forefathers didnt completely TRUST the UNEDUCATED masses which were of course primarily in the frontier areas. Now it seems the uneducated masses are congregated in the large cities of the northeast and far west. So, it seems to be backfiring on us. On the other hand there is so much cheating by the Democraps at the voting precincts I worry about the popular vote too. I seriously doubt for instance that Gore ever got even the popular vote if you backed out the many documented cheats they made. jdn

It is possible that Bush could win the popular vote and lose the electoral vote - very possible.

Yea, I figured you 'd be in favor of a system that allows rogue electors to vote which ever way they want. It's happened a number of times already.

Last election had about as much turmoil as any election in history. It stretched the patience of the nation. Now imagine the chaos that might have sprung forth with just two rogue electors changing their votes?

The electoral college is a joke. It should be abolished and replaced with a popular vote.
