Dean shoots from the lip yes, but the meaning of what he says is not always what he means. So I wouldnt worry too much about him launching nukes in a fit of rage.
If you analyse his statements you will see his meaning is not what his democratic opponents seized on. And his opponents know that and bush will do the same. So his gaffes are not really even gaffes in most cases.
EG. "america is no safer because saddam was caught." Well that's mostly true if you are referring to al quaeda. And the current alert status at orange proves that point. The truth of the matter, even bush would agree with that argument. It was just impolitic of dean to say that on the day saddam was caught. mike
