MSI,
A great marxist post. You identify the problems OK, but your solutions to help the working guy will only exacerbate the situation. I come to the table with a leftist background as well. What you accurately describe is a minefield but you get out of a minefield one mine at a time, not by going back to Smoot-Hawley protectionism or anti-immigration when the need is still there or Globalization itself for that matter.
Yes regulate when necessary and arrest the crooks. But dont go back to Jimmy Carter.
Yes end illegal immigration by finding a way to get low wage folks into the country legally to do the jobs that americans wont do.
Improve education so americans can compete better especially in engineering. Maybe privatization will work(or not) but be open to ideas and not cowtow to the teachers unions.
I can keep going but to sum up, democrats need a progressive alternative to bush that involves homeland defense and a rational fp. If someone does that, who knows he may get my vote. I think the hated Hillary may offer something like that next time around. And with her comes that global village thing again. Mike
