Good Afternoon Mr./Ms.??? Roberts, You wrote "Thank goodness I wasn't needed. <NFG>" Ohhh, I so disagree!! You were very badly needed but thank the Lord, you weren't wanted. Your story, sad to say, is not exceptionable for small town departments where you must know someone before your allowed to be a part of the organization (good ol' boy club). They are the black eye of the volunteer fire service but thankfully they are getting harder and harder to find any more. You blew it just a little bit though...Anyone who makes statements like that, you should hit and then run (don't walk) away from, stop, go back and hit again, turn and never look back and find someone with brains to tell "How cool it is to punch morons"!!! I have to be honest, last year we had our own "HERO". When I testified at the trial the Judge made a comment that due to his good service maybe probation only was warranted so I asked to make a statement, he received 12 years in state, should get out in 2010, if he is lucky, 2015 if I'm lucky. I have no sympathy or charity for those who swear to serve and protect and then use their position to cause harm. I would put one my own brothers away and laugh at every family function if they would ever do something like that and feel proud every second of the rest of my life about it.
