The hot technology this year will be RFID, eventually it will replace barcodes on all products and manufacturing inventories... The demand will be huge for RFID labels (and chips). Once the foreign foundries start manufacturing them it seems likely that the only market for US manufacturers will be military applications or custom specialty applications. From what I've read, it seems that the standards are still evolving. Low cost producers and holders of patent rights will be a big factor for winners in this market niche.
