This "low titer" news likely rules out one speculation of mine - that this patient was originally infected with "standard" SARS and then over several months the virus mutated enough in this patient to re-emerge symptomatically (with the original virus being cleared). However if that had been the case then he would presumably still have a reasonably high titer to "standard" SARS.

It may turn out that the virus mutates enough over time that we'll never know what to expect each new "season."

But at least the Chinese don't seem to be covering things up this year. Too bad they haven't been more proactive on stopping the civet (and the like) trade though.
