Yes, it seems that the terrorists can jerk us around with vague, baseless threats. I think the Bushies think the fear works in their favor politically.

At this point in time, it's impossible for the public to tell if there is actual chatter or if this entire thing is just a political stunt. iht.com The right-wing extremists have to decide on one stance or another as they are completely contradictory: 1. We have taken out 2/3rds of the Al Qaeda leadership and taken out Saddam so we are definitely safer than we were prior to 911. 2. We are not safer which necessitates all of these more severe actions than ever before. Hmmmmm.
