I only mentioned the cafeteria worker because my friend (Dec 2000)had friendly advances made towards her from a worker and she also was very friendly, beautiful, tall, and blonde. The worker gave her a gift and that made her very uncomfortable. She sought my advice. The gift might have only been because she was nice to him, not anything else. She returned the gift and told him it was very sweet. My advice was not to upset him, but make it clear she was not available. Friendly girls sometimes talk to much and Suzanne might have mentioned the “Buddy Party”, something she was very proud of participating in. Who knows who might have known what she was doing that night. It was just a nagging thought....but I am sure the thought was present because I was following this case from afar and any bit of information about the Yale community could be pertinent. They did not belong to the same college, therefore had different dining facilities, but workers can change locations. After your scenarios it does not seem logical. You are very familiar with the layout of the area therefore understand how she moved around that evening. But if someone was stalking her and knew the area well......that is a different story. Stalkers can be very discrete. I know I am rambling on, but I think about Suzanne and I think this is a tragic story about an All American Girl that deserves to have closure. I understand why the police were looking at your friend, because it is logical to look at the people closes to the person around the time of the crime. He had business with her, the thesis. He was very curious...going to the crime scene, he was very emotional....the flowers on her seat in the classroom He did not have a good account of his time. I know this is all circumstantial, but it does raise low tone alarms. Until the police have better leads they will keep your friend on their radar screen. It is sad for an innocent man to suffer, but he was made part of this story because he was close to the victim as an instructor. She must have respect for him, because she chose him to guide her through her senior thesis, unfortunately she was upset and stressed and made commits that hurt his credibility with her family. Her comments are very typical of someone who has a lot to do and needs to vent, “my paper would be done and perfect if I did not have to deal with this other person” unfair, but predictable. She was very ambitious and had a lot on her plate around the time of her murder. She might have just gone for a walk to clear her head so she could continue what she had to do that evening.....easy target.
