Illinois joins the District of Columbia, Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington in providingminimum wage rates higher than the federally mandated rates.

The impication that the US Government is wrong doesn't carry weight here. If the US Government made a maximum wage it would harm people.

It can never be higher than all the states as the states would have to follow. Naturally the state with more money and business will pay more. There will always be states that pay more and states that pay less.
