IGIT:
YOu have asked Robert to explain the very verses
I told you I could easily explain.

I will butt out and allow him to answer however.

I do pray that God give you the grace and courage to examine
what you have been taught those verse say however and let
The bible say what it actually says and not what men WANT it to say...

Remember this verse and deeply consider who you are in Christ:

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers,
having itching ears;

I pray you avoid "itchy ears" and an unteachable spirit
but as far as stating that neither James nor myself
know anything of the love and grace of God...

It is by God's grace that either of us are alive never mind saved.

It is the love of Christ alone that converted me.

Do not join with the ungodly if falsely accusing us even as Paul asked:

Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

I would love nothing more than to come to agreement with you
on what the scriptures teach - as you can see from some who post
I have enough enemies - but that is also promised to those who speak the truth.

Do you know why the church wanted to kill Christ in Luke 4.

I know you do not - I know that you do not know a lot of things
I do not say this out of pride - I speak from knowledge.

If I by my manner offend you I apologize - but I will never
apologize to those who hate me for being honest and expounding
God's truth - to them I say "it is a shame" but it is "not given".

Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know
the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without,
all these things are done in parables:

I hope that God's truth is not all parables to you but if it is
I can not reach you or help you - all I can do is angry you.

For that I would be sorry - but I am openly inviting you to
Reason together with me - or James - or now as it appears Robert Hall.

It is not a lack of faithful witness - and we can endure a rather
large dose of ignorance from men - but it is really up to you from here.

Is your faith in Christ and your knowledge of truth secure enough
to allow you to re-examine what you have been taught and speak to us?

You still believe satan is at work - what if satan is at work
in us as some have foolishly charge even charging Christ with having a demon?

If we are not of the truth - then truth will win out but
opinions and traditions can not stand up to scripture.

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

If you belong to Christ and are born again - no man can take you from His hand.

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life;
and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Not I nor any man - nor can you pluck yourself from His hand.

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

You do not need to respond to this post - it is fair enough
that you have challenged Robert to answer your understanding
of those verses.

If you however want an explanation - I am at your service :-)

Brian

P.S. Did you see the list of questions I posted the other day?

Greetings IGIT,

You stated previously this scripture;

<<< Peter 7
By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

But you see, I do consider who the letters are addressed too. But my friend Robert, let's revisit this verse and see if your logic stands up to any reason...

9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

You are right, definitely speaking to the people of God. We absolutely agree on this.

But when this verse talks about not wanting anyone to perish, why would this have to be stated to the people of God, people who already will not perish? It would be totally irrelevant. Do you think God wastes his words? Of course not!! It becomes perfectly clear this teaching is talking to people of God about people not of God. You know the ones, like mentioned in the earlier verses, qualified as ungodly men and scoffers. Otherwise the verse is a waste. Sorry, Robert, nothing of God is a waste. Does God not talk to believers about unbelievers? Of course he does. He does so many times throughout the Bible. >>>

With due respect,to say that this verse is God talking to believers about unbelievers is a figment of your imagination.

Here is the verse;

<< The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. >>

The " YOU " and " everyone " is the PEOPLE of God, absolutely no one else.

Firstly, The letter is written to the people of God.

The time frame is between AD 33 to Ad 70.

This final time period is when all the Epistles to the Church were written. Should you choose to read Santiago's list of what the early church expected of Christ, it would greatly help you see, and understand that the early church believed the Lord Jesus Christ, when He said, He would return within the lifetime of some of them now living.

The second coming of Christ came to pass at 70AD, just as Our Lord stated.

The Lord is stating that all of His elect or chosen ones will be saved prior to His Glorious return in 70AD, He is patient, waiting for His own to come to repentance.

IGIT. please consider the preterist view, you can go to thier webpage at;

www.preterist.org

If your open and desire to know TRUTH, you must be willing to admit to yourself that you have been deceived in to believing the rubbish about the future second coming of Christ is yet future.

Think about it for a moment,...........maybe longer, You are making out Our Lord Jesus Christ to be a liar and a false prophet by saying what He said, would come to pass, has not happened.

May The Lord God Almighty grant you the Grace, Courage, and Light, to understand and know, that what His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ declared would happen with the close of the Mosaic economy........ DID INDEED HAPPEN at 70 AD

Robert
