Islamabad looks like a bridal city the color is everywhere, so is the security but the press says that the whole city is blocked the only area that is blocked is where VIPs are staying in ½ square mile otherwise we are on the roads the city is open, what I read in the global press and what I see here is two opposing scenes.

Ike I placed the article on your site for you to see. Knowing how intimately familiar you are with the politics of the region I figured this 'take' would interest you. Other than that I don't have the time to tell the NYT anything. I'm trying my best to bring up my young kids in the best possible light. When they're old enough to understand politics I'll likely take them to Canada where I am a citizen. I am appalled by the conservative religious right here in the U.S. and by the policies they have affected and the very fiber of their dangerously distorted thinking.

The biggest threat to peace comes form inequities that are prevalent, the short termism of political goals and treating nations as toilet papers,

<<I agree with this statement>>

Bush has definitely brought as consistency in present environment he deserves a lot of praise for that,

<<I don't share your optimism concerning the Bush administration.
Since he has chosen to go where he has we are forced to have to see where this will lead us. I hope he is right. there is so much at stake. but I fear Power and Greed are behind his moves. I am totally sceptical of all politicians. To me they are disfunctional megalomaniacs. I believe you have to be a fool to be a politician.>>

NYT in a huge liberal jump is trying to dislodge that fine equilibrium that Bush has created they want Bush to open a new front and than declare him a failure who cannot bring results through diplomacy, the brining of Indian Pak together behind the scenes is a great act from present administration and circumcision of Gadahhfi is the class act as the liberals cannot digest, Khatami is about to come on the table so for us the present articles and agendas of left are self serving only.

<<My feelings on the above are Bush will inevitably fail of his own accord the NYT or the liberal right doesn't have to push him.
I can't believe that the Bush Administration has finally got it all right
the past tells a story too scary for one to all of a sudden jump to the conclusion that the Americans are now on the right track. We shall see.
Concerning Gadahhfi. He is despicable and he should never have been coddled and courted and made to seem anything but what he is...despicable. Do you think the whole 'evil empire' is going to fall into order because this bozo has struck a deal with the U.S. or laughingly the so called 'coalition'? I will only give him a shred of credit for having pulled this off but he was able to do so because of the stupidity of the 'coalition.' If Bush stays in office another four years I pity the state of the world. As far as the other party is concerned I see no viable candidate especially since politicians are fools to begin with. It's likely genetics.
I find Canada to be an option because they aren't about to lead the world and because compassionate humanitarian politics are certainly much more prevalent.
