never in a million years could I compare my service in the military to either one of you.

I respect everyone's service equally.

Rank and position and unit just do not matter. Service is the key. The Medal of Honor has been presented to many so-called REMFs.

If you are on active duty (or the Reserves or National Guard) you are subject to being in harm's way. You are subject to being called on to fight and kill. Nobody controls that. It is situational.

Same goes for high decorations. It means you were in the wrong place on a bad day and did a great job. I know and have served with 5 MOH winners, Mize, Zabitowsky, Cavaianni, Donlan and Benevidez all will tell you they would rather not have been thrown into the situation to begin with.

I respect everyone's service equally. I salute you all.
