I could not have said it better myself -- my comment in the past has been that bin Laden owes Bush a Christmas card for all the help he provided to al Qaeda when he chose to snub the UN and invade Iraq.

Al Queda and the Taliban have the correct ideology, organizational structure, and war tactics to defeat us (if they can get popular support)

The only people the Talibs were able to "defeat" were their own starving compadres. The al Qaedistas, yes, they are dangerous. We better do whatever we can to outfight them - and to outsmart them. I don't think that al Qaeda's "strategists" were expecting that as a result of 9/11 they would be thrown out of Afghanistan - and the US will have a military presence in the ME.

<<Al Queda and the Taliban have the correct ideology, organizational structure, and war tactics to defeat us (if they can get popular support)>>>

War tactics, thats got to be a joke.
Popular support- all gone now.
Organization- almost non-existent
Since 911 the luck of OBL, the Taliban, and Al Queda had turned sour, as tho Allah does not approve.
Nothing goes right for them.
They thought if Russia, closer by and with more vicious and less tender hearted warriors than the US could not defeat them ,then they could not be defeated by an America gone soft and decadent and under an inexperienced
new leader.Wrong
They did not get the public acclaim expected by other Arab leaders, who were far more aware of the seriousness of the act and the possible consequencies to their industries and progress if the US chose to act.
They have also lost a major share of their funding and the protection money being paid by Saudis. And perhaps the recent attacks in SA are in retribution for that loss.
That action is a definite loser and with the loss of Saddam, Syria loses the income from the illegal oil pipeline and has to be mighty careful not be caught funding any terrorism.
Al Queda has gone ape, striking out at any reachable target. In Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, tourists, Mosques
No Arabic leader can risk being caught supporting them.
Funding cut off, gone into hiding in the hills, unable to use phones or wireless, old training grounds under surviellance, Leaders identified and being hunted by special teams and no longer able to say they are doing something to benefit Muslims.
They will not concede of course, because its their chosen life, just mutate into sneaky acts and beggars after arms they can no longer afford.
Tell me again how we are losing and what they will attack us with as they retreat further into the hills.??
If other ME countries do not want to see such heavy US
presence in the area the solution is simple. Have Iran and Syria close their borders, keep out those who travel to Iraq to cause trouble. Assist in interrogations, and turn over Al Queda members and information. Help Iraq get organised and functioning sooner rather than later.
