Personally, I dont feel the Dems get the message at all. They had their chance with Clinton and completely ignored it, in fact even worse they weakened our military and intelligence AS they ignored it. Now these clowns sound pretty much to me (excepting Lieberman) the same. As to Dean vs Goldwater, I voted for Goldwater, I attended a couple of his fund raisers etc etc. IMHO Dean is no Goldwater. I really believe had Goldwater been elected there would have been no Vietnam War. I dont think Goldwater was nuts, I think he was portrayed as some kind of crazy nuclear nut by the opposition, and it worked. That same fear the opposition aroused most likely would have caused the NVA to think twice about invading S. Vietnam. I think Bush likely instills that same fear in our potential demogague enemies and so long as he remains in office I suspect we WILL be able to negotiate things never before possible. jdn
