If you are viewing it that way then I suggest you back off a bit since nothing will be solved by anger and prejudice.

Hmmm... when was the last time you offered such advice to the Islamic militants who insist on spreading anger and prejudice against Jews and Christians?

When Muhammad was converting the bedouins this is what was prevalent in the desert tribes. So he had to move in slowly with them.

You think there was much of a difference when St. Patrick was converting the Gaelic tribes of Ireland? Don't you think he had to "move slowly"? Yet Ireland seems to be a pretty modern society. It certainly doesn't look anything like Saudi Arabia, or even Iraq.

There has been movement with certain segments of Arab society towards moderation and modernization. But there has been 80 years of cultural stagnation in the Mid-East since the fall of the Ottoman Empire brought about these artificial Arab dictatorships and monarchies..

The reactionary forces which loath modern change, secularist government, economic diversity, and political moderation all have found a voice in Islamic militancy. And the religious fountain which waters this movement lies in Wahhabist puritanicalism.

Hawk, the last thing we want this to turn out is making it some kind of a religious. It is not a war between Christians and Muslims.

I'm not making this a war between Muslims and Christians. And you're about the densest person I know if you can't understand that.

This IS a battle between the forces of Islamic MODERATION, and MILITANCY. It is a civil war for the heart and soul of Islam's future.

And we, as moderate and progressive Western society have a VESTED INTEREST in ensuring that moderate and progressive Muslims win that battle.

Get that? Anything I need to reiterate so you finally get it through your head? Because GOD KNOWS that I've said it over and over again on this and many other threads..

Yet, you seem to insist that I'm saying something else entirely..

Wahhabism does not represent Islam Chinu. It's only represents maybe 10-20 million of 1.5 BILLION muslims worldwide.

Yet they control the temper and tone of all of Islam via control over the Hadj to Mecca and Medina under Saudi rule. And that is something that will likely have to be altered for economic and social prosperity to be unleashed in the Islamic world.

You understand me NOW, Chinu??
