A recent History book that I read, How the Scots Invented the Modern World: The True Story of How Western Europe's Poorest Nation Created Our World & Everything in It, really nails Smith's contribution. The book explains how the Tobacco Trade in Scotland with Virginia was the eye-opener to the Scots on what England was doing wrong. PBS has been outstanding today. I just watched NOVA: Mars Dead or Alive, with an up to date story on the Rover. They will have a new show Tuesday with a panoramic color shot of the crater. The first in a three part show on DNA is coming on next. Earlier today they ran a show on the Building of the 14 Billion dollar freeway exchange that showed in detail how the politics worked. We talked about the Kennedys the other day. Tip O'Niell was the key.
