Customarily political conventions were held in the summer, and the candidates picked. The election campaigns really began after Labor Day. Surely the more politically involved were active before, but the bulk of the population wasn't. This year is going to be very different. There's a good chance that in two months, the Democrats will have picked their nominee. The election campaign will then stretch over the next eight months. What differences will this make? Will there be enough time to educate the masses? Will they care, or just "burn out"?
