Welcome! A home in a port, and this can be a useful thread as we share information.

Laura Mercier. Ok, I will try that powder. Neiman Marcus bought Laura Mercier, and I do like their lipsticks and eyeshadows.

And I like Beneteint (spelling?). Sephora carries this line. Good luck to your daughter - with her experience I am sure she will soon land on her feet.

Now - a bane of my existence: mascara. I can't stand Maybelline's Great Lash - too harsh. Ditto Cover Girl. Lancome is nice, but since you are supposed to discard it every three months, it can be expensive. Neutrogena? Any thoughts.

Further along these lines, I was always told to use nothing but black mascara. Well, I have blond hair and blue eyes, and black is too stark. Brown is better, IMO.

Hi Penny, nice to have another knowledgeable lady concerning a very serious subject, make up!

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's unemployment, but put me in the been there done that category.
Hopefully, she will find a new job in a hurry, and if it is in the cosmetic line, please keep us informed on the latest.

Hi, MoneyPenny. Neiman's is having their "Beauty Event" so I went over looking for powder, particularly Laura Mercier's. I asked for the best powder (i.e. lightest and most translucent) and they took me to the Sisley counter. Long and short, I bought some and really like it.

I also like Estee Lauder's "More than Mascara."

What happened with your daughter? A friend of my daughter's is getting her MBA and will graduate in June. She got a job at Sephora, but she had worked at Allure and was the beauty editor at Bazaar before leaving for school.

She said Makeup Forever is the best brand for foundation but I think it is too thick.
