Reason and faith are not mutually exclusive entities. Scientific inquiry is limited in its ability to prove the terms of our physical circumstances. The lab coat clerics tend to argue that it is all that is needed. Abstract assumptions ultimately found the study of the physical universe and leave conclusivity open to speculation. Faith is also limited since it is centered on the abstract primarily on the abstract. Yet Faith relies on metaphor, simbolism, parables of one's circumstance in the physical univers etc in order for one to have a grasp of purpose in life. The world is a practical and physical place to live in that requires one to deal with the physics of the place while giving abstract thought to the meaning of one's existence. Apparently it is too hard for some people to consider the possibility that the physics of the world are practically useful for them to understand while there is also purpose and meaning underlying their existence.
