<America stopped being a pitiful, helpless giant> Is that want you think of the United States prior to George Bush? Nothing diminishes the power of a country faster than the unwise use of its power. What we have seen in Iraq is a diminished US, unleashing a military and political process that it did not even begin to understand, in the name of a whacky and militaristic foreign policy more in tune with the sort of thing we have come to expect from a politically isolated but militarily powerful country like Israel, acting vengefully and crudely and completely lacking in diplomatic skill, rather than acting like a superpower of the former stature of the United States of America.
