I don't know if anyone else teaches it. But I enjoy it, so I teach it. The boys really take to it, since they tend to be more visual than the girls. Some of the girls say it is confusing, so I say "If it doesn't help you, ignore it."

These are just tools in our tool kit after all. No one should make you use a tool that doesn't fit your way of working, when there are other perfectly good tools out there.

On the other hand, some tools in our tool kit, like the ability to READ, everyone needs to have. Getting students to understand the difference between optional skills and essential skills is key- and of course it would be nice if all instructors realized there was a difference.

I thought diagramming sentences was a lost art. Didn't think they taught that any more

I don't think they do.

I taught it extensively, but that was 25 years ago, and even then it was getting hard to find any grammar books that taught it, so reliance on the ditto machine was high.
