Thurston,
I guess the activation sounds easy enough. I was waiting until I figured out when/if I would need to reload. I suspect that by the time I find a solution to each anoyance I will want to start with a clean reformat. I distrust XP, I don't know why, but I figured that my alternatives would be supported much longer.

I did get the Service Pack 1 from another machine that was connected to the internet. I have 4 machines running. It seems that our family does things as a herd and as soon as one person gets on a computer then everyone wants it at the same time. We also play games together. There is a network version of "Boggle" that is fun. You could easily sit at a table and play, but instead we get on the machines, and play. In between rounds one person may be sending instant messages while another is scanning the news. I'm anxious to get this new machine into the mix.
