Actually, Israel is extremely responsive to US pressure. It sure wasn't Sharon's idea to back the roadmap. Israel doesn't get $20 billion a year; it gets $3 billion, and most of that is tied to defense expenditures at high prices that go straight into the pockets of US defense firms.

While we're talking about cutting Israel off, how about cutting off the $2 billion a year we give to Egypt? I certainly don't think we're getting value for money there. Israel at least behaves like an ally, the intelligence forces have been extremely helpful in the WOT. What has Egypt ever done for us? Did they lift a finger for Clinton to help deliver Arafat? They did not. When the USSR was around, you could justify the payment to keep Egypt out of Soviet influence. But now?
