China end-2003 forex reserves at $403.25 bln

China had $403.25 billion in foreign exchange reserves at the end of 2003, up $116.84 billion from the year-earlier period, the official Xinhua news agency said on Tuesday.

It did not say if the figure was before or after the injection of $45 billion into two state banks.

A spokeswoman for the State Administration of Foreign Exchange told Reuters the bank capital injection would not have an impact on the yuan exchange rate.
