There are people on the left who take the war on terror seriously only to the extent they absolutely oppose it.

The issue of the seriousness of the war on terror hasn't been thoroughly discussed by the democratic nominees imo. I have not heard one democratic candidate say exactly what he would do to counter International terrorism. I have not found many people on the left willing to address the substance of the issue of terrorism......period.

What I have heard is criticism regarding education, the economy, health care......all valid concerns. And I have heard criticism regarding the war in Iraq, but there has been a total void regarding the issue of terrorism.

To give you an example of liberal reticence. In his speech yesterday endorsing Howard Dean for the Presidential nomination, Bill Bradley said that the right is "obsessed" with the war on terror. Obsessed? This implies that the war on terror is way down on the list of democratic priorities, and also points to a large misunderstanding. That concerns me deeply.

I have not heard one of the nine candidates running for office outline a certifiable plan to deal with the very serious threat of terrorism. Nor have I seen a plan outlining how they would keep American citizens safe from terrorism in general. To be fair, the debate moderators have failed to question those candidates about the very real threat of terrorism. Over all, there is a distinct lack of information on the part of the left when it comes to terrorism, and the democratic debates have basically ignored this issue........which I personally find quite disturbing.

I fully expect this to become an important issue during the presidential debates between GWB and the democratic nominee. And I anxiously await the results of those debates so that I can get a complete understanding of just exactly how the left would manage this war.

I look forward to someone, anyone on the left coming up with a credible plan that a majority of Americans could endorse. So far they have barely mentioned the fact that that we are at war (or they have suggested that it was just a trumped up job concocted in a ranch in Texas.....pleaaaaaaasssss) let alone offer a plan.

I'm sure if one or more of the current contenders for the democratic nomination had written a piece I would have read it here, although I may have missed it somehow.....I can't keep up with these threads 24/7. ;)
