Why is it a boondoggle for teachers unions? My understanding is that it imposes higher standards(a good thing) and more testing to measure whether teaching is effective. That's the reason teacher's hate it--they don't want change. Just ask any 7th grader who wrote The Declaration of Independence. Most not only could not name writer but never heard of Thos Jefferson. Their creative writing skills are pathetic. Public schools must get back to teaching basics. Sadly, teacher unionization struck the deathknell for public education. Those who were never meant to be teachers were drawn to the protected salary/benefits gravy train. They are probably the same ones fighting NCLB.
