Are you attempting guilt by association? I'm not defending Byrd's curiosity in the KKK. I understand he went to a few meetings then quit as it wasn't his cup of tea. And all of this more than 50 years ago?

A guy growing up in the segregationist era would really be plowing against the grain to avoid being touched by it.

But Trent Lott, last year, was extolling the glory days of segregation.

The KKK may have burned crosses, but that doesn't mean that Byrd did. That's guilt by association. And it's real old news, you know. People do change. The world has moved forward. It's Trent Lott that's stuck back in the dark ages, not Byrd.
