You basically think the Republican party went too far to the right from the 80's on. I get it. Whether I see it that way or not.

Re. "your father's Republican party" - ironically in my case, my Dad is a right wing fundamentalist Democrat. He hasn't been able to vote for anyone in decades. Carter fooled him - teaching Sunday school and all just like he did.
