Re Hackworth and Iraq casualties.

<<<So at the end of this turbulent year, we must ask ourselves: Was the price our warriors paid in blood worth the outcome? Are we any safer than before our pre-emptive invasion? ????>>>

Not any safer if we keep driving the US highways, it isn't
<<< The number of persons injured in crashes also declined from an estimated 3,033,000 in 2001 to 2,914,000 in 2002, almost a four percent drop.NHTSA earlier estimated that highway crashes cost society $230.6 billion a year, about $820 per person."As a nation, we should be outraged over the loss of nearly 43,000 of our friends, neighbors and family members,” said NHTSA Administrator Jeffrey Runge, M.D. "All of us – individuals as well as government – should resolve to make highway safety our highest public health priority."

These are all volunteer activities as are the jobs of firemen . police, jockeys, race car drivers and divers.
All of our people in Iraq volunteered for service.
Risk is a part of living and excitement and learning to overcome odds-accepting the challenges.

<<<Our first New Year’s resolution should be to find out if the stated reasons for our pre-emptive strike – Iraq's purported weapons of mass destruction and Saddam’s connection with al-Qaeda – constituted a real threat to our national security. Because, contrary to public opinion, the present administration hasn’t yet made the case that Saddam and his sadists aided and abetted al-Qaeda's attacks on 9/11. We also need to know why our $30 billion-a-year intelligence agencies didn’t read the tea leaves correctly, as well as what’s being done besides upgrading the color code to prevent other similar strikes. >>>

The mainly stated reason for our action was to disarm Saddam , with that disarmament being demanded by many UN Resoluttions.
This convoluted declaration leaves many people wondering what it meant so its difficult to interpret.
He still has two arms if we believe the photos, so perhaps
it had a different meaning. One can only guess.
