These NGOs are the biggest impediments to rationalizing our horrendously bad tax code. People think it's better to sending your money to the worst charity than sending it to the Federal Government to be totally wasted. Take away this corrupt system, they'd actually have to prove to donors they are worth the money entrusted to them. It's in their survival interests to keep the status quo. So they are quietly lobbying furiously whenever tax code is being discussed.
