The taxes they pay cannot possibly offset the cost of the public benefits they will consume. The taxes they will pay cannot possibly offset the new costs of more unemployed citizens. The taxes they pay cannot possibly offset the reduction in taxes that will result from the reduction in average unskilled pay.

well said, contrary to other opinions here, these jobs were not and would not be filled by americans, they have been available all through this lower employment environment and were available for years and years before that

when i used to have my vending business, one of my accounts was a company that built trusses for new houses...they paid very good money to the people who worked the line assembling the trusses and yet they had a hard time finding enough americans to actually work a job where they had to break a sweat to make a decent wage...at one point there was even an INS raid there and several employees were found to be illegals....keep in mind that each of these employees supposedly had a SS number, which in fact was just a number they made up, so they were paying taxes which were going into someone else's SS account (don't ask me why the government wouldn't figure this out, with someone supposedly drawing a full time paycheck from arizona and probably another from some other far away state <g>)

in any event, making these people legal and adding them to the system will not be a detriment to our country, these people come over the border and use our services already, if they are documented and legal, they will actually be less of a drain on our system

people love to take shots at President Bush II, but he is honest and as you said, one of the best leaders we have had in a long time...at least they will get plenty more chances to express their misguided opinions, while he serves his second term <g>
