Infineon

Howard, there is a long history between SanDisk and Siemens (Infineon)...

MultiMedia Cards were developed initially in 1995
and have effectively been replaced by the SD card
which is proprietary to SNDK, TOS and Panasonic.

The fact is that Infineon is late to the party.
SanDisk will use Saifun's technology indirectly,
but I think if Eli recognized that Saifun held
the future of non-volatile memory in their hand
he would have forged a bond some time ago. Both
Tower and Saifun are Israeli companies. Perhaps
the Tower investment was an attempt to get the
foot in the door. I don't know how much of a threat
Infineon's version of NROM will be, but they are
quite late entrants in any case.
