The author was Robert Rouark - if you recall it was about a white boy - Peter Mackenzie I think and a black boy who were childhood friends and found themselves on opposite sides in the Mau Mau War. I was doing my RAF 2 week reserve training at a radar station in the Scottish Borders - I read 7 books - that was one of them and the another one was 'The Heart of the Matter' by Graeme Greene - a great book but one I found profoundly depressing even at the age of 21. Strange I should remember both those books from so long ago?
