The US anti-tobacco campaign has reduced the number of smokers in the US significantly. I don't know how many politicians lost their mandates because of that campaign. Perhaps you could find the data for us.

A similar campaign to reduce obesity is just as realistic.

On the other hand a campaign to reduce consumer debt and increase savings is far more difficult because of the short term effects on the economy.
