Don't take it personally, but I think whoever wrote this knows nothing about the changing relationship bet. HK and Mainland China. HK is important only in the sense of taking back Taiwan by peaceful means. Economically, HK's importance is decreasing every day.

In case China has to take back Taiwan by force (this is indeed such a possibility), then politically, HK's importance would decrease just as much as its economic role for Mainland.

Of course, just IMHO
