service members repeatedly said the choice to serve, by itself, demonstrates moral quality above most civilians. Once in the military, many said, members are wrapped in a culture that values honor and morality.

This is the key, as you know, to the people who stay in. The recent book I read about West Point points out that the Idealistic attitude the Cadets have is way above anything you will find in a normal college.

The attitude that "I want to sacrifice and serve" is what holds the military together.
