Quite right Lindy. But apartments look like a good investment. So, I'm investigating that possibility further.

On Hu Jintao and the hard-nosed attitude they are taking towards Taiwan and Hong Kong and continued suppression of any squeak of complaint, I wonder whether he isn't showing he's the boss first of all, to avoid the Gorby outcome where Russia totally fell apart with the advent of "Freedom and Democracy" which is still very limited in Russia as I understand it.

A Lee Kwan Yew type autocratic development is perhaps what he's thinking, with only gradual reforms to allow political diversity. Start hard and work back from that. Or, maybe he really is just an unbounded megalomaniac and will brook no opposition or even diversity of thought, let alone action or discussion.

While the cash is flowing, it keeps a lot of people happy and covers a multitude of sins [as Enron, Worldcom etc showed].
