People are also foolish to pay any more taxes than they are forced to, but there are consequences when there is a huge gap between tax revenues and expenditures. The government has financial management responsibilities, just as we do as individuals. Not living up to those responsibilities has consequences -- and eventually you either change your behavior or face those consequences. In Bobonomic-fairyland, there are no consequences and our deficits magically disappear and have no impact anyway.
