Let me put it to you like this, in the Chicago area, illegal immigrants have doubled in the past 10 years to at least 850,000 so I get to see this mess we are in on a daily basis. They just keep coming, because they know there is no punishment.... Al Qaeda could walk 4 battalions right across the border from Mexico... Homeland security my ass.

How about $20/hr manufacturing jobs? Do you think those could be filled by $10/hr 'guest workers'? Do you think that there are qualified Mexicans currently making $5/hr building Fords in a maquiladora who would like to spend a couple of years up north for twice the pay, with no immigration hassle? You betcha. Supply and demand for wages. Extra supply with constant demand means dropping wages. Great for profits, not so great for workers. One more gift from Bush to the cheap labor conservatives.
