It would not surprise me if the (d) party shunned him in Washington. How dare he vote his conscience! (s) The parties want you to stay in line. It was the same way when the republican switched parties a few years back... As to dating him, you are off by decades. He is a 90 and 2000 era guy. It's my understanding he was shunned by the Democrats in Congress and not even invited to their caucus.... He was probably a beloved Democrat back in the 60's prior to the Civil Right's Acts...ie before the South turned Repub.
