Connor-don't know if you ever read this--from the Guru before the company changed its name and symbol.

URGENT TRADE RECOMMENDATION

Medix Resources (AMEX: MXR)

What's new with Medix? With the new Medicare bill, e-prescribing is given a new mandate. While mandate is not exactly the word, it is mentioned in the bill. We all know that each year thousands die because of prescription errors, but there is no requirement that prescriptions be generated by e-prescribing software. That does not complete change in the new bill, but it does become a new goal.

I think it is obvious that a state like California will at some point put in mandates that go a step further than this bill. Also - a few more 60 Minutes or 20/20 shows on prescription errors and we are likely to see it mandated into law. If not mandated, then it will likely become something the average person shopping for a change in doctors will ask. "Do you e-prescribe?"

Medix is on the cutting edge here. It is not just about the subscription revenues from doctors. Revenue is likely to be even more significant from drug companies eager to get their message in front of doctors with a Point of Care technology like this. With the patient history already input, a doctor who is about to prescribe Drug One for a patient is instantly prompted on the device to consider Drug Two as possibly more appropriate. The system looks up interactions and patient history. It gives a more logical - FOR A FEE FROM THE DRUG COMPANY - and instantly prompts the doctor to consider that drug.
That is where the REAL revenue is likely to come from. Consider that for every seven physicians, there is a paid drug rep ready to meet them. Billions are spent just trying to get the doctor to remember in the event that doctor comes up with a patient that fits the need. This would be even more direct being that it is at the exact moment of care.

These are the old arguments for Medix, but they are even more true now.
