OT is time and a half, starts after 40 hrs. Holidays were ditto. Over 12 hrs, like when you don't get breaks or meals, or something happens right at change of shift, pays double time. They had the chutzpah to call me earlier to see if I would work tonight. That would have been an extra 40%. Tonight would have meant 6 days in a row, and 6 days this week. LMAO. I'll be happy if I can get 1000 hrs in this year, so I can get the bennies.

My biggest fear happened last week, right at the start of our shift. We had a 5 month old come thru ER with meningitis. My partner ended up down there for 6 hrs, babysitting a ventilator until the big city transport team got there and flew the kid out. (He's off the ventilator, and apparently doing well). While I was getting the vent for him from the nursery, I got a Stat call to ICU because they were right now going to tube a patient and put him on the vent. Could have been disastrous for one person. Dodged a bullet. Da Kid rests his case.

Fuzzette just called. She's on her way down to San Jose for the weekend, for a Mock Trial scrimmage. :-)
