I've got to get the thing written first, before taking suggestions for changes to it.

At the rate it's going right now, I do expect to start letting people check it out soon.

Have been trying to get a fix on how many people use the Classic interface or the new one, but haven't figured out yet how that choice is recorded in the database so I can just query it. I want the new-new interface to mimic whichever is the more popular interface with lots of iHub elements thrown in.

Right now it's a lot more like the "new" SI interface than Classic but with a little bit of simplification of menus, ala iHub, and the search includes something even iHub doesn't have. Not only do searches find all subjects, no matter how long they've been inactive, it can also search for the specified text in the subject header.

I know I won't have message-searching working right away. It's going to be at the tail-end of the migration project. It just can't be done iHub's way, and even iHub won't be able to keep doing it the same way for more than maybe another year. I'll have to set it up to only search the most recent 1 or 2 million messages, and consider getting a separate server later for full message-base searching.

Made quite a bit of headway this morning. Actually, all week. But yesterday I fell asleep around 7:00, woke up about 1 in the morning, and have been banging out code since. My best programming times have always been in the wee hours (no phones, assistants, emails, etc) but I don't get a chance to work those weird hours much anymore.

Right now, IIS and SQL Server are running on the same box for development. That's a bit hard on a server; even the monster we're using, but if I limit the connections to it, it should be alright for people to preview until I decide to go ahead and get the new webserver.

Anyway, it's coming along fast enough now that I've set a personal goal to be able to start letting people preview it by the end of this coming week. That doesn't mean it's even close to being done, though, but it'll be far enough along that it can start getting load-tested and people can get an idea what's in store for them.
