I would prefer to be unemployed in Canada than unemployed in the US because Canada has a better safety net. At least, I would have health insurance while unemployed. Not in the US.

>If the liberals want higher taxes and are not concerned with waste, they should send more of their own earned income to the US Treasury as a show of sincere committment.

Silly argument. I'd send mine in, but there's always the "free-rider" issue if you do it voluntarily.

Also, money from just a few people ends up getting us nowhere. A little money from a lot of people takes us a lot further than a lot of money from a few people.

""There are so many individuals that post here that want increases in taxes. Do you voluntarily pay higher rates? You have that option you know... I didn't think so...(s)""

Those wanting higher taxes are those that are paying little or no taxes now. They want higher taxes as long as it is someone else paying them. At present the top 1% of earners in the US pay 33% of the taxes, the top 5% of earners pay over 50% of the taxes. This according to the latest figures from the IRS. Included in the 5% are single proprietorships and small businessmen whom have put there entire wealth in creating jobs for others as well as themselves.
