yes O'Neill was the treasury secretary prior to John Snow and was fired I think, or "axed to leave" as they say. He didn't support the Bush supply side tax cuts, in fact from what I can see almost no economists did, and thats why we would up with Snow, a former railroad industry executive from the 70s (now theres a business that gives you a good insight into trade issues NOT) who basically parrotted back Bush policies and supported them.

The Bush tax cuts went through and nothing much happened other than the budget got decimated. Then months later we started clocking in with 8% GDP and continued unemployment. Economists are saying the tax cuts *did* work and they caused all this "growth". My guess is the good economists are questioning the numbers, just like Laura Tyson did the other night on CNBC. Personally I don't think the tax cuts worked, although the resulting low dollar probably contributed to the GDP in terms of offshore sales which are not produced in the US.
